Hey everyone.
Wisdom here is the eternal subcategory of knowledge that has always been relevant to mankind and always will be.
I have faith in a few things:
Anger is a seed which plants itself on the heart many times a day. If it's not pulled soon, it will grow deeper roots and bear seeded fruit that goes rotten inside of you, and the seeds will spread to others. It's best to never let it take root at all.
People can always get better, but our capacity to help them is limited. We should be open to helping them, when they're ready to accept it.
Balance is a good way to frame most things. Example: Unity. A shared cultural narrative is necessary to foster the cooperation that keeps us improving, but too much unity blocks open debate and leads to disasters like Chernobyl and genocides.
When someone shares political views, I believe it's important to respond by representing a stance that helps them get more comfortable with their opponents. In this way, most people feel I disagree with them. But I'm trying to help them weed the anger out of themselves by being a reasonable version of what they're angry at.
God is the sum of all that's most good. God is a word that represents that, not a man on a cloud. Yet it still works the same.
The Bible should not be read too literally because it won't make sense and the symbolic message (which stories are so good at conveying) will be lost.
Eternal life is the success of your children, and their children, and their children, etc.. We should live in service to that goal, because:
The more we focus on ourselves, the more miserable we become.
Physical exercise is the solution to most of our problems. Endorphins fully replace recreational drugs for free and with only positive side effects. All illness is lessened with physical fitness.
The more you make, the more you spend. Spend it on fruitful investment. Never grow accustomed to luxuries. Get more tools, more space, and purchase ownership stakes in the economy via low-cost ETFs. Buy a little physical silver or gold in case the world falls apart. Whatever you don't use, set it up for your children and their children. Invest time in your relationships.
Truth should be used in place of lies. If it's painful, it's a lesser pain than what the lies bring later. Truth should be delivered politely and respectfully - it doesn't excuse rudeness.
